In 1950, the Africa honeybee and European honeybee bred. A new specie of bee spawned. This hybrid specie came to be known as the Africanized bee. Since 1950-1957 the Africanized honeybee has grown and migrated from Brazil, to South America and into North America. The African honeybee appeared in Texas in 1990. Since then, the African honeybee has migrated from Arizona to California.
The Africanized bee is also known as the “killer bee.” The Africanized bee is given the reputation of being deadly because of it is so aggressive. The honeybee is not. The reason why the African bee is called the killer bee is because chances of getting stung by one of these bees are much higher than a honeybee.
